About Stardust Doula

My Story

Hello, I’m Ayla.

I have always been passionate about birth. From a very young age, I was fascinated by the mystery and power of it, the very primal yet absolutely astounding piece of magic we somehow possess.

I began my doula journey by training with Jessica English of Birth Kalamazoo in March, 2021. My philosophy as a doula is to practice harm reduction, community building, and mutual aid through advocacy, awareness, and affordable services. I currently offer doula services for birth, postpartum, and abortion. To me, the magic of birth is deeply moving and incredibly powerful, and I strive to create comfortable and safe birthing spaces catered to your specific desires and needs.

Birth work has lead me to another passion, similar yet very different, and I’m pursuing training to be a death doula as well. I believe doula support can be useful all through out our lives, and I’m exploring other ways that doula services can strengthen our lives and communities.

I am a full-time freelance artist and I also own a small soap-making endeavor called Strange Magic Creations. I am a new mom to a beautiful baby born in summer of 2023. My passions include gardening, poetry, art, magic, dune hikes, human rights, and my dogs. I strongly believe in birth advocacy and dignity in death, and am working toward reducing harm by honoring both in my doula service. It is with abundant gratitude that I walk my path. Please message me if you’d like to speak further or to learn more about what I can offer. I look forward to getting to know you!

How does doula support fit in to your life?

Pregnant Woman in Nature

Birth Support

Prenatal and Delivery

My birth support package is designed to make you as comfortable and confident as possible. Through several prenatal visits, a comfort and advocacy preference questionnaire, and a birth plan worksheet, I will craft a custom support plan to meet your specific needs. My birth support package also includes lactation basics and one at-home postpartum visit.

Vegetable Picking

Postpartum Support

Support After Birth

The postpartum period is a special time of bonding, discovering, and learning the rhythms of having a new baby. A little extra support can go a long way during this period. As your postpartum doula, we will work together prior to the birth to determine what sort of postpartum support will work best for you. I offer everything from home-cooked meals, light cleaning, and baby sitting while you rest to resources regarding breastfeeding, postpartum depression, and more.

Abortion Support

Here for You

Making personal decisions for our reproductive health can be very scary and stressful. My role with abortion support is to ensure you get the best information and care possible. No matter when you need me, I will be there offering support, from doctor's appointments to care at home.

Death Support

Dignity in Death

I am currently training to be a death doula and plan to offer this service in 2024. Please contact me if you would like to discuss death doula services.

What are your rates?

My rates depend on the services rendered. I firmly believe in making doula support accessible to all, and I offer a sliding scale for families in need. If you are interested in donating funds to provide these services to families in need, please contact me.

Do you perform any physical examinations?

I do not do physical examinations but I do provide some physical comfort aids such as massage and compressions. As a doula, my primary goal is to make sure you are as comfortable and informed as possible. I am not medically trained and I will not give you medical advice.

How else can doula support fit in to my life?

Truly, the ways are endless. I am open to discussing any way in which you desire doula support: vaccines, doctors or dentists appointments, court appointments, and more. Please contact me if you would like to discuss alternative ways doula support can be in your life.

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

I am constantly and consistently amazed by the hard work and dedication our healthcare workers do to keep us healthy and safe. I want to work with your medical team to make sure that you are able to achieve the birth you desire. At the end of the day, I do work for you and no one else, and my priority will be making sure your concerns, questions, and consent are heard and understood.
